HISTORY OF MUTIRA

Mutira Girls Secondary School is and Extra County Boarding school in Kirinyaga Central Sub- County, Kirinyaga County.
The school started in 1971 on Harambee basis on the 14 acres of land donated by the community.
It is sponsored by the Anglican church of Kenya and it started as single streamed school but now it is registered as eight streamed school.

The teachers service commission has employed 61teachers and 9 employed by Board of Management.
The supportive staff and subordinate staff is composed of 32 members. Casuals are always engaged to assist as need arises.

School infrastructure

It has basic infrastructure.
  • One administration block
  • 35 classrooms (1 semi permanent)
  • 17 dormitories (two semi–permanent )
  • 5 laboratories
  • 1computer room
  • 1 home science room
  • The school has one 62 seater bus a 14 seater van for transport.
  • Water source- a drilled borehole that supplies sufficient water to the school also connected to Kirinyaga Water and sanitation Company as an alternative source.
